Hey guys! I recently did a book review post on the book Scythe. In that post I very briefly touched on a topic that I feel many people have misconceptions about. So I decided that today I’m going to delve more into the topic of “where do we go when we die?”
Many people in today’s world unfortunately do not have a concrete idea of what happens when someone’s earthly body dies. Some people think that there is no “afterlife” out there; that we just kinda die and we don’t go anywhere after. Other people don’t necessarily believe in heaven or hell, but based on earthly actions, you either go somewhere good or somewhere bad. Others believe in reincarnation.
Personally, I don’t find these options very appealing. However I do know of an afterlife that is 100% real. Heaven and hell. And these are the only two places people go after they die. There is no “floating into oblivion” or reincarnation. No no no. Only heaven or hell. And let me tell you, you probably don’t want to go to hell. Why? Well here’s a description of each.
“They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” -Matthew 14:42
“He [God] will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” – Revelation 21:4
Feel free to read more in depth in the verses, so you can get a better context of what’s happening. But just from those little excerpts, which do you think you would wanna go to? Heaven, right? Me too. But here’s the million dollar question. How does someone go to heaven or hell? Well people who don’t accept God’s FREE gift of salvation go to hell. And people who believe in Christ Jesus and accept the free gift of salvation go to heaven. Simple as that!
Well, as I was writing this, I realized that not all people believe in the Bible. So all this Bible references might be going on one ear and out the other for some people. So I’m gonna recommend some books that could quite possibly change your perspective on things.
Know why you believe and Know what you believe by Paul E. Little
Heaven is for real by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent
